Who we are

Gathered is a modern prayer chain — the old church practice of passing a need from hand to hand until the whole congregation is carrying it, rebuilt for the way people live now. We are a small, founder-led team, and we are honest about what we are: a ministry business, not a church. We organize, deliver, and protect the praying; the prayers themselves come freely from real members of the chain.

We built Gathered because the moment someone says “I’m praying for you” — and means it, and you know they mean it — is one of the most comforting things one human being can give another. We wanted that moment to be available to people whose churches are far away, or long ago, or not yet.

Our team page, with names and faces, is coming as the team grows — we won’t publish stock-photo staff or invented bios, here or anywhere.

Statement of faith

Gathered is pan-Christian: members come from many churches and traditions. We hold to the historic faith shared by Christians everywhere, summarized in the Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

What we believe about prayer

We believe God hears prayer, that praying for one another is a command and a gift (James 5:16, Galatians 6:2), and that where two or three gather in His name, He is present (Matthew 18:20). We do not believe prayer is a transaction, that outcomes can be purchased, or that God’s favor scales with anyone’s spending — and we’ve written that into our commitments.
