A Prayer for My Child
Parents pray in doorways — watching them sleep, watching them leave. This is a prayer for the child you'd give anything to cover.
Father, I place my child in Your hands — their body, their heart, their friendships, their faith. Protect them where I can't be, and grow in them what I can't produce. Amen.
A fuller prayer
Lord, You love this child even more than I do, which I can barely imagine. Keep their body healthy and their heart soft. Give them friends who make goodness look normal, teachers who see them, and the kind of courage that doesn't need an audience. When they fail, let them learn that home is where you bring failure, not where you hide it. Draw them to Yourself early and gently, and make our home a place where faith looks like something worth having. I'll do my part — help me do it patiently. Cover the rest. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Scripture to hold on to

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
PROVERBS 22:6 · BSB
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
MATTHEW 19:14 · BSB
How to pray this
Pray one specific thing per child per day, not everything every day — Monday their friendships, Tuesday their fears. Specific prayers get noticed being answered, and answered prayers teach a parent to keep praying.
Don’t carry this alone
The chain is small and forming — which means your request won't be lost in a crowd. Real people will pray this with you, for your situation, by name — and you’ll see each one happen.

Common questions
How do I pray over a child who's too young to understand?
Out loud, with a hand on their head or their doorframe. They'll absorb the tone long before the theology — and blessing children aloud is one of scripture's oldest habits.
Can I ask others to pray for my child?
Yes — by first name only, sharing what you're comfortable sharing. The chain prays for children constantly; it's what half of us joined for.
